
The World Water Week is a water conference that aims to provide a dynamic platform to link practice, science, policy and decision-making to address water, development and sustainability issues. Participants of this event ranges from students, CEOs, politicians, United Nations agencies, government organizations and many others.
This year, the conference run from 23-27 August 2021, with the theme 'Building Resilience Faster' with sessions that addresses climate crisis, water scarcity, food security, and the impact of Covid-19 pandemic.
GIZ - Fit for School team presented two sessions as part of the Stockholm World Water Week. The first session entitled “Cleanliness at your fingertips: Calculate WASH costs with your phone” which featured a guide to the Operation and Maintenance costing application “Calculate the Cost” developed by GIZ. The second session, “Approaching One Health through Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools” highlighted how the One Health concept can be operationalized through school-based interventions.
Stockholm International Water Institution (SIWI), in collaboration with UNICEF, also had a session entitled "Strengthening WASH services for a safe return to schools" which told the story of school closures in Latin America and the Caribbean and the Middle East and North Africa countries, the great efforts taken to ensure a safe return to schools by scaling up WASH in schools, and looked to the future of ensuring universal access to WASH in schools.
