It works worldwide in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. Their mandate is to support the German Government in achieving its development objectives. It provides viable, forward-looking solutions for political, economic, ecological, and social development in a globalised world.

WaterAid is an international not-for-profit, determined to make clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation.

The Center for Global Safe Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (CGSW) focuses on increasing access to safe drinking water, adequate sanitation, and appropriate hygiene as part of a global strategy to break the cycle of poverty and disease in developing countries.

Housed in Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health (RSPH), the CGSW combines academic strength with a commitment to evidence-based action, advocacy, and policy development.

CAWST is a non-profit turning water knowledge into common knowledge. Through training workshops, an extensive online library of open content resources and consulting support, CAWST helps organizations worldwide provide affordable technologies and appropriate education programs that are right for their communities.

Viva con Agua de Sankt e.V. is a non-profit organization committed to ensuring that all people worldwide have access to clean drinking water. VcA supports water projects and events at home and abroad based on the motto WATER FOR ALL – ALL FOR WATER via positive storytelling with lots of joy.

VcAs’ playing fields are MUSIC, SPORTS, and ART to reach many people, to activate them for civic engagement and to generate funds. VcA keeps the flag flying at festivals and concerts, hold lectures at schools and universities, work with companies and activate with a lot of fun.

VcA create awareness for the global issue of WASH and generate funds for more and more project countries. VcA core project countries are South Africa, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Nepal.

The Stockholm International Water Institute, SIWI is a not-for-profit institute with a wide range of expertise in water governance – from sanitation and water resources management to water diplomacy. We create knowledge, develop capacity, and offer policy advice to countries, communities, and companies. SIWI works globally to change how water is understood, valued, and managed. As advocates and advisors, we show how improved water governance is key to a fairer, more prosperous, and resilient future.

SIWI has a department dedicated to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), including WASH in schools as one of its areas of expertise. SIWI also organizes the world’s leading water conference, World Water Week, and awards the prestigious Stockholm Water Prize. We also empower young people to solve water issues through the international competition Stockholm Junior Water Prize.

WASH United works to build a world in which all people benefit from safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), including menstrual hygiene. A unique crossbreed between an NGO and a creative agency, WASH United focuses on the challenges in advocacy and education where they aim at making a difference through their combination of WASH sector expertise and creative talent.

Splash is at the forefront of a growing movement to ensure that children in urban poverty have the resources they need to thrive and realize their full potential. We design and implement child-focused water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), and menstrual health solutions with governments in some of the world’s biggest cities. And then we get out of the way: our goal is to demonstrate that our model works, build local capacity, and transition management to local organizations and governments. Founded in 2007, Splash has worked in eight countries and served more than one million kids worldwide.

The Swiss Water and Sanitation Consortium (SWSC) was founded in 2011 and brings together eight Swiss NGOs and two affiliate Swiss organisations. SWSC is implementing WASH programs in Asia and Africa co-funded by SDC. The main focus is on WASH in institutions with the signature approaches WASH FIT for WASH in health care facilities and Blue Schools for WASH and environmental education and practice in Schools. The aim of the consortium is to foster collaboration, exchange and learning to improve project practices and increase impact. 

FHI 360 is a global organization that mobilizes research, resources, and relationships so people everywhere have access to the opportunities they need to lead full and healthy lives. With collaborations in over 60 countries, FHI 360 works directly with local leaders to advance social and economic equity, improve health and well-being, respond to humanitarian crises and strengthen community resilience. The organization shares data-driven insights and scalable tools that expand access and equity so communities can effectively address complex challenges, respond to shocks and achieve thriving futures. 

Back in 2012, HappyTap started in Vietnam to tackle a stubborn problem—and to seize an enormous public health opportunity—presented by inadequate handwashing. In order to accelerate global and national progress towards SDG 6, HappyTap aims to establish affordable, aspirational handwashing stations as a global product category with suitable market based approaches. Enabling handwashing for everyone is possible through the “new normal in hand hygiene” where more functional handwashing stations will be settled in more locations to offer greater opportunities for communities to wash hands consistently.

The German Toilet Organization (GTO) is a not-for-profit organization aiming to strengthen the WASH sector through nourishing networks, facilitating knowledge sharing, developing tools and influencing policy. 

Since 2005 GTO is also active in school sanitation and hygiene both in Germany and internationally. Currently GTO is focusing on creating a German WASH hub for schools and the school toilet competition “Toilets Making the Grade".
